Privacy policy

The short version: this site doesn't want your data, it wants your attention on the writing. There are no accounts, no forms, no newsletter and nothing for sale. Here's the longer version, because you're entitled to it.

Who I am

This is the personal website of Nicole Jameson (nicolejameson.uk). For anything privacy-related, the quickest way to reach me is a message on LinkedIn.

What I collect

Directly from you: nothing. I don't ask for your name, your email address or anything else, because there's nowhere on this site to enter them.

Analytics

The site runs on Squarespace, which provides me with anonymised, aggregated statistics - things like how many people visited, which pages they read, roughly where in the world they were and which site sent them here. I use this to understand what's worth writing more of. I can't identify you from it, and I don't try to.

Cookies

Squarespace sets a small number of essential cookies to make the site work, and optional analytics cookies that power the statistics above. When you first visit you'll see a cookie banner where you can accept or manage the optional ones. Essential cookies can't be switched off, because the site doesn't function without them. Fonts and hosting

The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests those files from Google's servers - in doing so, Google receives your IP address, as happens with most websites. Hosting is provided by Squarespace, whose handling of visitor data is described in the Squarespace privacy policy.

Links elsewhere

I link out to other places, mostly LinkedIn. Once you leave this site, the privacy policy of wherever you've landed applies, not this one.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights over personal data an organisation holds about you - access, correction, erasure and others. Since I don't hold any personal data about visitors, there's usually nothing for me to act on, but if you believe otherwise, message me on LinkedIn and I'll sort it. If you're unhappy with how a data matter has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If the site ever starts collecting anything new - a contact form, say - this page will be updated first, and the date at the top will change.
